We are a non-profit, volunteer based organization that seeks to establish mutual understanding between Japanese and American communities in Iowa.

Our purpose

The Japan America Society of Iowa’s purpose is to promote friendly international relations, cultural activities of interest to members and mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and Japan.

We provide opportunities to our members and the public to participate in social, cultural, and educational activities.

The JASI History

Japan America Society of Iowa (JASI) was founded in 1989 by a small group of dedicated individuals to promote Japanese culture in central Iowa. On January 29, 1989, the first meeting of Japan America Society of Iowa was held by seven members who shared one of traditional Japanese art of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements) with the community of central Iowa.

Experience Japan in Iowa

Cultural immersion is what we offer. Through the exploration of food, drink, cultural workshops and performances, we take pride in each experience we provide to be enjoyable and educational.
